DFNYC & Three Parks Host Letter-Writing Party for Healthcare Reform

~ From DFNYCers Merle McEldowney & Sally Swisher:

Get Better Health Care Reform!!

Come to a Letter writing Party!

We will be writing letters to progressive, politically aware people in Oregon to ask them to write or call their Senator, Ron Wyden, to let him know that they need, at the very least, a robust public option for health care - or,  single payer health care itself.  We've got sample letters that will outline key points.

U.S. Senator Ron Wyden from Oregon is a Democrat in a key position to get a real public option through Congress - he is on the Senate Finance Committee and could be instrumental in protecting all of us by championing a strong public option, or even single payer.  But he hasn't made a committment to support either.

Three Parks Independent Democrats (http://www.threeparksdems.org/) and Democracy For New York City are co sponsoring this event:

When:  This Monday, June 15, 7pm

Where:  American Youth Hostel, 103rd Street & Amsterdam Avenue

RSVP:  merle.mceldowney-at-gmail.com (replace -at- with @)

This is our chance to influence an important Senator outside of New York.   We have the names and addresses of 3,400 people in Oregon.  We will supply sample letters, inserts, envelopes - and even take care of postage and mailing.  We will ask Oregonians to call or write Senator Wyden - to tell him we want him to support a single payer health plan or a meaningful public option.
Please come and be part of this wonderful effort!
If you can't make it, (or even if you can,) check out the updated website of DFA and Gov. Dean:  StandwithDr.Dean.com.  It now has an easy tool that lets you see where each member of Congress stands on a real public option, such as opening up Medicare to all:  http://standwithdrdean.com/where_congress_stands
