Happy New Year!
 
Unbelievably enough, we are already into the New Year of 2010—so we wish the best to the DFNYC community!  Here's hoping that 2010 brings a more progressive outlook to the US - but since hope doesn't bring change by itself, here's to the work that we'll all be doing to help make it happen!

Three Linkups tonight, January 6, Upper West Side, Sheepshead Bay, and Sunnyside

The Upper West Side Linkup will take place, with hosts Bernadette Evangelist and Sally Swisher, who would welcome anyone from any of the cancelled linkups who is stranded without their normal political discussion.  Our main topic will be the sorry state of healthcare reform - and what we can do at this late date.  If you come with ideas, you'll be ahead of most of us - but come anyway, maybe we'll discover something.

When:    7 PM, Tonight, Wed., Jan. 6
Where:   The Parlour, South side of W. 86th Street, between Broadway &West End Ave.,  Manhattan (half a block from the #1 train)

The Sheepshead Bay Linkup will also occur, with hosts Annette Mont and Estelle Glasser.  The agenda for this linkup is also relaxed, so come with good ideas on how to move forward.

The Sunnyside Linkup with host Dan Jacoby will go ahead on schedule.

DFNYC is planning a big linkup to be held in late January for the whole community with invited speaker Jim Dean.  We will all gather to properly kick off the new year and discuss some exciting plans for DFNYC going forward.  Be on the look-out for more information and plan to get together to share food and drink . . . and re-energize each other for the year to come.

Since we've been working on this big event, many of the local Linkups have arranged to skip January's regularly scheduled meetings—which would have been tonight, Wednesday, January 6.
