The Salton Sea is now America's worst ecological disaster, and this man-made environmental problem threatens the over 400 different species documented to have lived there. Yet a few hardy eccentrics hang on to hope, including a roadside nudist and a man building a religious mountain out of mud and paint. Hair-raising and hilarious, this is the American Dream stinky as a dead carp.

Screening Liberally invites you to Plagues and Passions on the Salton Sea, directed by Chris Meltzler, narrated by John Waters. Winner of over 32 film festival awards, the documentary about an area that was once know as "California's Riviera."
