Since the 2000 presidential election, there has been a sharp increase across the nation in the adoption of voter photo identification laws. On April 28th, 2008, the Supreme Court issued its opinion in Crawford v. Marion County Election Board and Indiana Democratic Party v. Rokita. The Court upheld the constitutionality of Indiana's voter ID law, which requires that all in-person voters present government-issued photo identification. Please join us as we hear from experts who will discuss the opinion, the justifications for voter photo ID laws, the burden they may place on potential voters and the impact of the Court's decision on future voting rights challenges.
