Announcement: Early Endorsement Results - 2009
Written by Tracey_Keij_Denton
Wednesday, 11 March 2009

Democracy for NYC recently held early endorsement voting.  Recognizing that success at the grassroots level requires developing strong support early, we developed the DFNYC Early Candidate Endorsement process.  It is reserved for candidates who are active members of DFNYC, and unique in their long-term commitment to the ideals, progressive grass roots activism, and dedication to the principles of Democracy for NYC.  Here is a list of the candidates that were eligible for early endorsement (voting took place through March 5th), and the results:

Norman Siegel - 70% in favor of endorsement

~ Norman is running for Public Advocate, a citywide race.  To learn more and contribute, visit: NormanSiegel.com

Steve Behar - 87% in favor of endorsement

~ Steve is running for City Council, Dist. 19 in eastern Queens.  To learn more and contribute, visit: BeharforNewYork.com

Josh Skaller - 91% in favor of endorsement

~ Josh is running for City Council, District 39 in Central Brooklyn.  To learn more and contribute, visit:  Skaller09.com.

Questions for the candidates?  If you have any questions for the candidates, feel free to contact them through their website, or send your questions to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and we will forward them along.

Endorsements in other races?  These early endorsement votes will not preclude DFNYC from making other endorsements in other 2009 races.  We are currently gathering information on who is running for which office, and we will soon have updates on how we will proceed with endorsement votes.
