Written by Bernadette Evangelist
Tuesday, 09 March 2010
On March 15th, Peace of the Action will erect Camp OUT NOW, a tent city on the grounds of the Washington Monument, as a base camp for actions, community gathering, and activities, and  to house, feed and otherwise care for everyone who participates and needs a place to stay.

The first week of Camp OUT NOW, will include non-violent Civil Resistance training, hosting Peace notables and musicians as they start building the community needed to help each other through the planned sustained actions.

All persons ready and willing to put anti-war, pro humanity principles into practice, are invited to come out to Camp OUT NOW and stay for as little or as long as you can.  Acts of civil resistance are planned to begin on Monday, March 22nd, and will end when the troops start to come home.

Peace of the Action is the brainchild of Peace Mom, Cindy Sheehan, who has been striving to make the concept of peace a reality since her son, Casey, was killed in Iraq in April 2004.

DFNYC Endorses Peralta against Monserrate in Mar. 16 Special Election - PLEASE VOLUNTEER
Written by Tracey_Keij_Denton
Tuesday, 02 March 2010

Tuesday, March 16, 2010, there will be a special election for State Senate, right here in NYC.  Democracy for NYC is proud to announce that we have endorsed Assemblymember Jose Peralta.  Here are the results of the endorsement vote:

74%  Jose Peralta

26%  No Endorsement

0%    Hiram Monserrate

If you've heard about this race, it may seem like Peralta will win easily. But Monserrate has hig ame recognition in this district - he was the Senator until he was expelled by vote of the State Senate after a serious domestic violence offense.  Peralta is a great candidate, but unknown to many in the district and it will take a lot of grassroots volunteers to make sure the voters know about this very important election.

Click "Read more" below to learn more about the race and volunteer opportunities.
