DFNYC Endorses Steve Harrison in the 13th CD Democratic Primary
Written by Tracey Denton
Wednesday, 07 May 2008

Democracy for NYC recently held a forum and endorsement vote in the Democratic Primary in NYC's 13th Congressional district, currently represented by incumbent Republican Vito Fossella. Steve Harrison has won our endorsement with an unprecedented 100% of the vote!

The 13th District covers Staten Island and part of southwest Brooklyn. The 13th District is currently represented by Republican Vito Fossella. As New York City's only Republican member of Congress, Fossella has been a rubber-stamp for the Bush-Cheney White House.

We look forward to working with Steve Harrison to defeat Vito Fossella in the 2008 elections. To learn more about Steve, check out his website: www.SteveHarrisonForCongress.com

(DFNYC voting members, those who have been to three events in the past year, were eligible to vote. Ballots could be downloaded at our website and mailed in, or turned in at events, between April 15th and April 29th. On Tuesday, April 15, Democracy for NYC, Stonewall Democratic Club, Three Parks Independent Democratic Club, Village Reform Democratic Club and Truth 13 held a candidate forum for the Democratic primary in the 13th Congressional District: Both candidates were invited. Steve Harrison attended the forum. Councilmember Recchia did not attend.)

DFNYC Endorses Jimmy Dahroug
Written by Heather Woodfield
Thursday, 01 November 2007

DFNYC members voted unanimously to endorse Jimmy Dahroug for New York's 3rd State Senate District.

Jimmy ran in 2004 against incumbent Republican Ceasar Trunzo in Suffolk County on Long Island. After earning an impressive 40% of the vote with a grassroots campaign, he went to work for the Administration of Steve Levy, the Suffolk County Executive, as a County Executive Assistant for community affairs and intergovernmental relations. He ran again in 2006, gaining a higher percentage, even after a contested Democratic primary. Jimmy was endorsed by Democracy for America in both races and many DFNYCers joined Long Island volunteers to canvas and phonebank. For more information about Jimmy, visit his campaign website, http://www.jimmyforsenate.com/

Stay tuned to the DFNYC website and newsletter for ways to help Jimmy in his campaign as we prepare to take back the State Senate in 2008.
