Democracy for NYC has officially added our name to the list of
endorsers in support of the Justice Will Be Served! campaign, a
coalition sponsored by the 318 Restaurant Workers Union, Chinese
Staff and Worker's Association, and NMAS (National Mobilization
Against Sweatshops). Justice Will Be Served! workers are:
- Calling for a boycott of Flor de Mayo, Saigon Grill and Ollie's
restaurants on Manhattan's Upper West Side to protest slave-like
conditions and wages as low as $1.25 an hour.
- Standing up to unfair and divisive labor practices at East Buffet
Restaurant in Huntinton, NY.
- Organizing and winning at Nail Plaza, Food Bazaar supermarket, Our
Place restaurant and other workplaces.
With this endorsement, DFNYC joins MBP Scott Stringer; Senator Eric
Schneiderman; Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal; Councilmember Gale
Brewer; Councilmember Diana Reyna, Community Free Democrats; Park
River Independent Democrats; Three Parks Independent Democrats; the
NYC Central Labor Council; AFL-CIO, United Autoworkers Region 9A Cap
Council; the Union of Clerical, Administrative, and Technical Staff
at NYU Industrial Workers of the World.
