William C. Thompson (D)
2009 NYC Mayoral Candidate

Below is a statement from Bill Thompson for Democracy for NYC members

Dear Democracy for New York City Members:

I write today to thank you for hosting your recent Mayoral forum, and to ask for your endorsement.

I was extremely impressed by your forum. Your questions were thought-provoking and informed, and it was wonderful to have to the opportunity to address a group of people who made such a difference for President Obama—and who I believe will make the difference for me, as well.

I know many of you are concerned about the serious challenges facing our City.

As Mayor, I’m going to work on the issues that really matter to people across all five boroughs. I will put New Yorkers back to work by creating long-term, good-paying jobs. I will make the creation and preservation of affordable housing one of the top priorities of my Administration. I will work to effectively address the challenges facing our education system. And I will take the tax burden off the backs of our young people and working families.

It’s time for change—and a Democrat—in City Hall. You’ve done it before and you can do it again. You can help elect a Democrat and help make the changes our City so desperately needs.

I hope I can count on your endorsement and your support. There are so many ways to get involved and you can visit my website www.thompson2009.com  to find out how.

Whether it’s making phone calls, knocking on doors, or contributing even $10—a donation that gets matched 6 to 1—you can make a real difference in this election.

Once again, thank you for inviting me to the forum. I look forward to campaigning with you over the next two and a half months.

Very truly yours,

Bill Thompson
