National Health Insurance Act -House Resolution 676 and New York City Council Resolution 75

Good News! The United States National Health Insurance Act (H.R. 676) is now a City Council Resolution.

DFNYC endorsed the United State National Health Insurance Act by an unanimous vote.

Let's get this resolution passed in our New York City Council. The resolution was introduced by Councilmember G. Oliver Koppell of the Bronx. Contact your council member and ask that he or she co-sponsors and votes to pass Res.75 which urges the U.S. Congress to pass HR676. Include your name, address, and phone number whenever you contact your representative and tell them you are a member of Democracy for NYC.

The United States National Health Insurance Act (H.R. 676), reintroduced this year by Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) establishes a single payer health care system by expanding and improving the current Medicare program creating publicly financed, privately delivered health care for all. The goal of the legislation is to insure that all Americans will have guaranteed access to the highest quality and cost effective health care regardless of one's employment, income or health care status.

The following NYC representatives have signed on as co-sponsors. If your representative is listed here, please write to thank them, if not please urge your representative to co-sponsor H.R. 676.
