Democracy for NYC (DFNYC) is committed to the ideals espoused by Democracy for America, the organization founded by Howard Dean, and the national network of local coalition groups dedicated to the same.

We develop innovative ways to advocate for the issues that matter to our members and support legislation which has a positive effect in our communities.  We promote transparency and ethical practices in government.  We engage people in the political process and give them the tools to organize, communicate, mobilize, and enact change on the local, state, and national level.

NYS Assembly District 72 - Manhattan

NYS Assembly - District 72 - Manhattan

This is an open seat, vacated when incumbent Gabriela Rosa admitted to paying a U.S. citizen to marry her so that should could obtain U.S. citizenship. This is a safe Democratic seat, so the winner of the primary will in all likelihood be the next Assemblymember for this district.

Election Date:   Tuesday, September 9, 2014

Neighborhoods:  (Manhattan & Bronx) Washington Heights, Inwood, and a small amount of Marble Hill in the Bronx. Map at the Assembly website.

These are all the candidates who filed to run in the primary, according to the NYS BOE report (pdf here). Some may have dropped out, but we believe that Manny De Los Santos and Guillermo Linares are still running.
