United Against Pipelines, Forward on Climate

United Against Pipelines, Forward on Climate

From our friends at Occupy the Pipeline: On Monday, May 13th, New Yorkers will march and rally to send a message to President Obama against fossil fuel pipelines that are destroying our lives, our health and life on this planet we share.

Hurricane Sandy brought Climate Change home to our own backyards and front stoops. Now, New Yorkers have united against the Spectra Pipeline, Rockaway Pipeline, and the Keystone XL Pipeline. We need to move away from fossil fuels and forward on climate!

In his Inaugural Address just a few months ago, President Obama promised “We will respond to the threat of climate change, knowing that the failure to do so would betray our children and future generations.” On Monday, May 13, the President will attend a fundraiser with the 1% at the Waldorf Astoria hotel on Park Avenue and in Manhattan. When he arrives, we will raise the voices of our communities together to declare: natural gas and tar sands oil are not solutions for a sustainable future.

We push for real renewable energy now. We push for the Federal government to invest in off-shore wind and solar powered rooftops that are ready to be implemented but lack the funding that is given to a fossil fuel industry that continues to kill our future. We ask you to join us if you stand united against pipelines, against fracking, and for Presidential courage on climate change. Let's unite against these pipelines and move our country forward on climate!

Location: Rally outside Waldorf Astoria at Park Avenue and 49th Street, exact location TBD.

Date & Time: Monday, May 13th, 5:30pm (Time is tentative and will be Updated when Information is available).
