Democracy for NYC (DFNYC) is committed to the ideals espoused by Democracy for America, the organization founded by Howard Dean, and the national network of local coalition groups dedicated to the same.

We develop innovative ways to advocate for the issues that matter to our members and support legislation which has a positive effect in our communities.  We promote transparency and ethical practices in government.  We engage people in the political process and give them the tools to organize, communicate, mobilize, and enact change on the local, state, and national level.

Why Bill de Blasio?

 A progressive leader who is passionate about our great city.

Bill  led the fight for paid sick leave and fair wages.

  • He stands by our teachers and believes we have to make it easier for families to stay involved in their children’s education.  Bill has a son in public school.
  • Bill strongly supports rent stabilization and rent control.
  • Bill has been a leader in the fight for LGBT rights.
  • Bill is helping lead the charge to reform “Stop and Frisk” practices that illegally profile young people of color. 
  • Bill has fought to cut red tape that stifles businesses small and large.
  • Bill supported the voters choice on term limits, including his own.
