Democracy for NYC (DFNYC) is committed to the ideals espoused by Democracy for America, the organization founded by Howard Dean, and the national network of local coalition groups dedicated to the same.
We work both locally and nationally to ensure that fiscally responsible and socially progressive candidates are elected at all levels of government. We develop innovative ways to advocate for the issues that matter to our members and support legislation which has a positive effect in our communities. We promote transparency and ethical practices in government. We engage people in the political process and give them the tools to organize, communicate, mobilize, and enact change on the local, state, and national level.

Join us for a Fun Evening of Letter Writing! We will be writing to DFA members in key U.S. Senate races, encouraging them to vote and volunteer. These will be short handwritten letters with key information on how and where to volunteer. Supplies and training provided, including sample letters. Hosted by Carlos & Tracey.
Races: We'll be writing letters for Bruce Braley, the Democrat running in the open seat in Iowa, and Kay Hagan, the incumbent Democrat in North Carolina. Hagan won a tight race last time, supported Obamacare, and continues to be attacked for this by the right wing.
When: Monday, October 21st, 6:30-9:15pm. Come at 6:30 and help us with set up, or stop by a little later and jump right in. We plan to be writing letters by 6:45.
Where: Bunga's Den, in the backroom, 137 West 14th Street, between 6th & 7th Avenues in Manhattan. North side of the street. Pizza and snacks will be provided by DFNYC. Cash bar.
Subway: Nearly every train in NYC stops on 14th Street, within 2 blocks of Bunga's Den. For address-to-address directions from your location, visit Hopstop.com.
RSVP & More info: RSVP not strictly necessary, but helpful so we can plan on materials. Email info-at-dfnyc.org (replace -at- w/@), call/text Carlos 646-221-6635 or Tracey 646-251-0680. |
