Democracy for NYC (DFNYC) is committed to the ideals espoused by Democracy for America, the organization founded by Howard Dean, and the national network of local coalition groups dedicated to the same.
We work both locally and nationally to ensure that fiscally responsible and socially progressive candidates are elected at all levels of government. We develop innovative ways to advocate for the issues that matter to our members and support legislation which has a positive effect in our communities. We promote transparency and ethical practices in government. We engage people in the political process and give them the tools to organize, communicate, mobilize, and enact change on the local, state, and national level.

Monday Night - Join us for Letter-writing to Save the US Senate
Save the U.S. Senate - Letter-writing Monday 10/27
~Change in location: Upstairs at Whole Foods on Houston
We will be writing to DFA members in key U.S. Senate races, encouraging them to vote and volunteer. These will be short handwritten letters with key information on how and where to volunteer. Supplies and training provided, including sample letters. Hosted by Carlos Dennis.
We'll write letters for Bruce Braley, the DFA-Endorsed Democrat running in the open seat in Iowa against Republican Joni Ernst, and Kay Hagan, the incumbent Democrat in North Carolina. Hagan won a tight race last time, supported Obamacare, and continues to be attacked for this by the right wing.
Monday, October 27, 6:30-9:15pm. Come at 6:30 and help us with set up, or stop by a little later and jump right in. We plan to be writing letters by 6:45.
Second floor, Whole Foods at 95 East Houston Street in Manhattan. Join us upstairs (there is an elevator); we'll be at a table with a DFNYC sign.
F train to 2nd Avenue, or BDFM to Broadway/Lafayette. For directions from your location, visit Hopstop.com.
