Democracy for NYC (DFNYC) is committed to the ideals espoused by Democracy for America, the organization founded by Howard Dean, and the national network of local coalition groups dedicated to the same.

New York State Wage Board Hearing

The New York State Department of Labor is holding Wage Board hearings across the state on the issue of raising the minimum wage.  The hearing scheduled for NYC will be on Monday June 15th at NYU:

Monday June 15, 2015 at 10 a.m.
New York University
NYU Kimmel Center, C95 Lecture Hall
60 Washington Square South
New York City

Those planning to attend a hearing are requested to preregister. Registrations will be accepted via web (www.labor.ny.gov/fastfoodwageboard), e-mail (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), phone (518-457-5519), fax (518-485-1126) and mail (address below). Priority in seating and speaking will be given to registrants. Seating and speaking order for those who have not preregistered will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis and as determined by the Board secretary and event staff. 

Speakers are requested, but not required, to prepare their testimony in writing and to make four copies available at the hearing. Oral presentations will be limited to 5 minutes each.

All attendees must present photo ID prior to entering the hearing.

Please join DFNYC and other progressive groups from across the city as we gather before the hearing to support the fast food workers who will be testifying.  These hearings are all important.  We re making great progress on the Fight for $!5, we have to keep the momentum going!
