Democracy for NYC (DFNYC) is committed to the ideals espoused by Democracy for America, the organization founded by Howard Dean, and the national network of local coalition groups dedicated to the same.
We work both locally and nationally to ensure that fiscally responsible and socially progressive candidates are elected at all levels of government. We develop innovative ways to advocate for the issues that matter to our members and support legislation which has a positive effect in our communities. We promote transparency and ethical practices in government. We engage people in the political process and give them the tools to organize, communicate, mobilize, and enact change on the local, state, and national level.

Join us for an UWS phonebank for Bill de Blasio, then a possible "beta-testing" of Broadway for De Blasio (weather permitting), where we'll pass out flyers to people leaving a Broadway theatre. When: Tuesday, July 30th. Phonebank from 6-9pm, After finishing calls at 9pm-ish, we will - if it's not raining - start walking downtown, probably stop for food, and go to a Broadway theatre at about 10 or 10:30 to pass out flyers to people coming out of the theatre. We're choosing a play that is close and likely to have NYC voters as opposed to just tourists. You can join us for just the phonebank and skip the theatre outreach if timing is an issue. Where: Phonebank is at 1991 Broadway, between 67th & 68th Streets (it's an atrium - Ollie's Noodle Shop was in this space before it closed down). The Theatre will be on the west side of midtown. Bring: The phonebank will have cell phones for us and paper call sheets. You can also use your own cell phone. If you have a laptop or tablet, the De Blasio campaign will can give you a link so that you can enter your call info directly on their web and not have to deal with paper call sheets. (If you are planning to bring a laptop/tablet, please email Gabriel at gabriel -at- billdeblasio.com (replace -at- w/@) so he can send you the link.) RSVP: Email me, Tracey tdenton-at-dfnyc.org (replace -at- with @). Looking forward to seeing you! |
