About Democracy for NYC
Democracy for NYC (DFNYC) is committed to the ideals espoused by Democracy for America, the organization founded by Howard Dean, and the national network of local coalition groups dedicated to the same.
We work both locally and nationally to ensure that fiscally responsible and socially progressive candidates are elected at all levels of government. We develop innovative ways to advocate for the issues that matter to our members and support legislation which has a positive effect in our communities. We promote transparency and ethical practices in government. We engage people in the political process and give them the tools to organize, communicate, mobilize, and enact change on the local, state, and national level.

DFNYC and Democracy for America are proud to be part of UPKNYC, the coalition of progressive groups that have come together to push for Mayor Bill De Blasio's vision of Universal Pre-Kindergarten for all children in New York City. For our February Linkup, (postponed due to weather on the 5th, rescheduled to Feb. 18) we are sponsoring a Universal Pre-K town hall which will feature Josh Gold, the political director of UPKNYC. This is your chance to have your questions answered about the Universal Pre-K debate and to find out how you can be involved in this great cause. What: Democracy for America/DFNYC February Linkup (hosted by Richard Wallner, Max Smith, & Tracey Keij-Denton) We'll talk about Universal Pre-K w/ special guest Josh Gold, Political Director of UPKNYC When: Tuesday, February 18th, 7:00 to 8:30-ish p.m. Where: Bunga's Den 137 W. 14th Street Between 6th & 7th Avenues, north side of the street. (In the newly renovated back room!)
