State of the Union Watch Parties/Events on Tuesday Feb. 12th

On Tuesday February 12th, President Obama will deliver his annual State of the Union address.  Given the current political tensions, this promises to be quite an event.  DFNYC is happy to support three great events that will happen that evening, two in Manhattan and one in Brooklyn:

1.  STATE OF THE UNION WATCH PARTY AND GUN VIOLENCE FORUM

Voterbook Manhattan, which grew out of the 2008 Obama campaign, is sponsoring a watch party, in the Times Square area, and a forum on gun violence which will take place before the speeches begin.  Leah Gunn Barrett of New Yorkers Against Gun Violence will speak about what is going on currently in the gun control movement, and lead a discussion about learning the difference between the myths and the facts about gun issues.  President Obama is expected to address gun control in his speech.

What:   Voterbook Manhattan Gun Violence Forum and State of the Union Watch Party

When:  Tuesday Feb. 12th, 7 p.m.

Where:  Harley's Smoke Stack (formerly the Irish Rogue)

             356 W. 44th St between 8th and 9th  (event is upstairs)

2.  Democratic Leadership for the 21st Century (DL21C) and Manhattan Young Democrats (MYD) Watch Party-

Our friends at DL21C and MYD will be co-hosting a watch party.  They will have drink specials, great food and special guest speakers.  DL21C events are good to attend if you want to see and be seen and meet local candidates and politicos

What:   DL21C and Manhattan Young Democrats State of the Union Watch Party

When:  Tuesday Feb. 12th, 7 p.m.

Where:  Smithfield's (upstairs)  215 W, 28th St

And last (but not least!)

3. Drinking Liberally's Annual State of the Union Watch Party

Our longtime friends at Drinking Liberally are having their annual SOTU watch party at a really cool bar in Brooklyn.  Their SOTU watch parties are always terrific events:

What:    Drinking Liberally's annual State of the Union Watch Party

When:   Tuesday, Feb. 12th  7 p.m.

Where:  Building on Bond

112 Bond St (at Pacific St)

After President Obama speaks, Marco Rubio will deliver the GOP response, and Rand Paul will give the Tea Party response. Be prepared to throw popcorn at the big screens when the bad guys come on. If you go to DL's party, I'm sure Justin Krebs will insist!

Look for DFNYC'ers at all three events.  See you there!!
